What can cause a Resource temporarily unavailable error on a socket send() command? The socket is setup as AF_UNIX, SOCK_STREAM. It works most of the time, but occasionally gets this error. The receiving end of the socket appears to be working properly.
"Resource temporarily unavailable" is the error message corresponding to EAGAIN, which means that the operation would have blocked but nonblocking operation was requested. For send(), that could be due to any of:
Solaris Error 11 Resource Temporarily Unavailable Oracle
This could be due to some resource limit, either on the server itself (or) specific to your user account. Limits in your shell could be checked via ulimit -a. Esp check for ulimit -u max user processes, if you have reached max processes, fork is unable to create any new and failing with that error. This could also be due to swap/memory resource issue
The error means that the current shell resource is limited (check the limits by ulimit -a). So you can either try in another shell, or increase the resources by using ulimit command which controls over the resources available to the shell and processes it creates on operating system.

In a SAS Real-Time Decision Manager run-time environment, the SAS Federation Server process might become unresponsive under a heavy load. There is not one specific warning or error message in any of the logs. You might encounter one or more of the following messages, which are symptomatic of a resource-constraint violation.

Whenever I try to change to testuser, I get resource temporarily unavailable message. The nproc and nofile limits are set to 65k. testuser runs multiple java programs.Did not exceed the nproc and nofile values(verified using ps and lsof commands) for testuser.

Now if you try to check the running processes you will receive error, resource temporary unavailable, it means the resources got exhausted for this particular user i.e. number of processes got exceeded.
Problem: We have found issues in the most recent Tiger update (10.4.2) that may cause new problems for users, including application crashes. We are investigating and expect Apple to remedy these issues. One specific problem: Mac OS Tiger users receive an error message stating "Resources temporarily unavailable" when running MetamorphoSys.
Solution: This error has been corrected in the 2005AC release of the UMLS. If you must use an older version, close all unnecessary applications. Macintosh Tiger users (OS X 10.4) are reminded to quit all other applications (including dashboard widgets) to avoid the Mac "resource temporarily unavailable" error.
A new datastore normally has a high number of large file block (LFB) resources and a lesser number of small file block (SFB) resources. For workflows that consume SFBs, such as virtual machine operations, LFBs convert to SFBs. However, due to a delay in updating the conversion status, newly converted SFBs might not be recognized as available for allocation. As a result, you see an error such as Insufficient disk space on datastore when you try to power on, clone, or migrate a virtual machine.
In the vSphere Client, you might see vSAN health errors such as vSAN cluster partition or vSAN object health when data-in-transit encryption is enabled. The issue occurs because when a rekey operation starts in a vSAN cluster, a temporary resource issue might cause key exchange between peers to fail.
ESXi 7.0 Update 3 introduced an uniform UNMAP granularity for VMFS and SEsparse snapshots, and set the maximum UNMAP granularity reported by VMFS to 2GB. However, in certain environments, when the guest OS makes a trim or unmap request of 2GB, such a request might require the VMFS metadata transaction to do lock acquisition of more than 50 resource clusters. VMFS might not handle such requests correctly. As a result, an ESXi host might fail with a purple diagnostic screen. VMFS metadata transaction requiring lock actions on greater then 50 resource clusters is rare and can only happen on aged datastores. The issue impacts only thin-provisioned VMDKs. Thick and eager zero thick VMDKs are not impacted. Along with the purple diagnostic screen, in the /var/run/log/vmkernel file you see errors such as: 2021-10-20T03:11:41.679Z cpu0:2352732)@BlueScreen: NMI IPI: Panic requested by another PCPU. If hardware support manager is unavailable for a cluster that you manage with a single image, where a firmware and drivers addon is selected and vSphere HA is enabled, the vSphere HA functionality is impacted. You may experience the following errors.
